FLAKY PIE CRUST 
4 c. flour
1 3/4 c. shortening
1 tbsp. sugar
1 tbsp. salt
1 tbsp. vinegar
1 egg

With fork or pastry blender mix first four ingredients. In a small bowl, beat 1/2 cup water and remaining ingredients together. Add to first mixture and blend until moistened. Mold dough into 5 balls. Chill 15 minutes then roll out on lightly floured board. You may freeze the balls, defrosting them before rolling. Makes 5 single crust.
