3 c. plain all-purpose flour 1 tsp. salt 1 c. shortening 1 egg, beaten 5 tbsp. cold water 1 tbsp. vinegar Sift all-purpose flour and salt together. Blend in shortening. Mix egg, water, and vinegar. Mix in flour mixture until dough makes a ball. Divide into 2 ball. Flatten a ball and roll out to a circle on floured board to fit pie pan. Prick sides and bottom of dough. Bake 425°F for 15 minutes. Makes 2 pie crusts. Johanna is Hank's Mom and she gave this recipe to Connie. We think this is the best crust, easy to work with and stays intact and easy to serve. |
