SCANDINAVIAN APPLE PIE | |
1 graham cracker crust 1 egg yolk, slightly beaten 5 1/2 c. apples, peeled and sliced 1 tbsp. lemon juice 1/2 c. white sugar 1/4 c. brown sugar 3 tbsp. all-purpose flour 1/4 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 1/4 tsp. nutmeg Preheat oven to 375°F. Brush prepared graham cracker crust evenly with egg yolk. Bake about 5 minutes. Remove from oven. Combine apples, lemon juice, sugars, flour, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Mix well and spoon into baked crust. Topping: 3/4 c. all-purpose flour 1/4 c. white sugar 1/4 c. brown sugar 1/3 c. butter Mix flour, sugars and butter with food processor or by hand until crumbly. Sprinkle evenly over apples. Place pie on baking sheet and bake at 375°F until golden and filling is bubbling, about 50 minutes. Makes 8 servings. Submitted by: Sophia Long |
