CREAM CHEESE COOKIES 
1 c. butter, softened (NOT DIET)
1 (3 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened
1 c. sugar
1 egg yolk
2 1/2 c. all purpose flour
1 tsp. vanilla
Candied red and/or green cherries and pecan halves

Cream butter and cream cheese, gradually add sugar, beating until light and fluffy. Add the egg yolks, one at a time, beating well. Add the flour and vanilla and mix until blended. Chill the dough at least 1 hour. Shape the dough onto one inch balls, place on a greased cookie sheet. GENTLY press a cherry or pecan into the center of each cookie. Bake at 325 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes. Yield about 7 dozen.
