ICEBOX COOKIES AND DATE TURTLES 
2 c. brown sugar (light)
2 eggs, beaten
1 tsp. maple lime/imitation maple
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 c. butter (not oil)
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. chopped nuts (if desired)
3 3/4 c. flour

Cream until smooth. Add 3 3/4 cups flour. Save 1/4 cup flour for rolling batter into sausages. Refrigerate at least 4 hours (better if overnight). Cut the sausages thin and place on cookie sheet, leaving plenty of space between them.

Bake in medium heat to hot oven 7 to 10 minutes. Watch carefully as it burns easily.

For turtles, have 1 1/2 pounds pitted dates, cut into halves. Take slice of cookie dough and place date on top. Then 2nd slice dough on top of dates. Place in oven 3 minutes and turn over for 3 minutes more.
