TRADITIONAL SANGRIA 
3/4 c. sugar
Rind of 1 orange, cut into thin strips
3/4 c. fresh squeezed orange juice (3 oranges)
Rind of 1 lemon, cut into thin strips
1/2 c. fresh squeezed lemon juice (3 lemons)
1 c. brandy
1 qt. burgundy or other dry red wine
1 (33.8 oz.) bottle club soda, chilled

Combine all ingredients except club soda in a large pitcher, stirring to dissolve sugar. Add club soda just before serving. Serve over ice with lemon, orange or lime slices to decorate glass. Yield: 2 1/2 quarts.
