3/4 c. light molasses (or corn syrup) 1/2 c. butter 2 beaten eggs 4 1/2 c. sifted flour 1/2 c. granulated sugar 1 1/4 tsp. baking soda 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 tsp. cloves 1/2 tsp. nutmeg Dash pepper In saucepan, combine molasses and butter. Cook until butter melts. Cook. Stir in eggs. Sift flour, sugar, soda and spices. Add to molasses mixture. Mix well. Chill for several hours or overnight. Shape chilled dough into 1" round balls. Bake on greased cookie sheet. Bake 12 to 15 minutes at 375 degrees. When done, place in paper bag filled with powdered sugar and shake until cookie is coated. Makes 4 1/2 dozen or more. |
