SNICKERDOODLES 
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter, softened
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. shortening
3 tbsp. sugar
1 tbsp. cinnamon
3 c. self rising flour

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Lightly grease baking sheets. Cream sugar, butter and shortening. Beat in eggs, vanilla until light and fluffy. Stir in flour just until blended. Combine 3 tablespoons sugar and cinnamon. Shape dough into 1 inch balls, roll in sugar and cinnamon. If dough is too soft, dust hands with sugar and cinnamon. Place on baking sheet 2 inches apart, bake 6 to 7 minutes or until set around edges. The cookies will be soft. Cook on rack.

Makes about 7 dozen.
