HOT CRANBERRY COMPOTE 
3 c. chopped apples
2 c. fresh cranberries
2 tsp. lemon juice
1 c. sugar
1 c. chopped walnuts
1 1/3 c. quick cooking oats (uncooked)
1/3 c. firmly packed light brown sugar
1/2 c. butter, melted

Combine apples, cranberries and lemon juice in a lightly greased shallow 2-quart casserole; toss well. Pour sugar evenly over fruit. Combine remaining ingredients; mixing well. Sprinkle over sugar layer. Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Yields: 10-12 servings.
