CHERRY SQUARES 
2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. sugar
1 can sour pitted cherries, drained
1 c. sugar
2/3 c. real butter (softened)

Preheat oven to 425 degrees.

Mix flour, salt and sugar. Cut in softened butter until small crumbs. Spread 1/2 of mixture in the bottom of a pie plate or small oblong pan.

Arrange a layer of cherries and place rest of crumb mixture on top. Lightly pat down to pack.

Cook for about 20 minutes or until sides and top are lightly browned. Cool and cut. Cooking time will vary.
