GINGER NUTS 
3 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. molasses
1 egg, beaten
1/2 c. melted butter

Mix and sift dry ingredients. Add molasses, egg and shortening. Mix to stiff dough, roll in long rolls, 1/2" diameter. Cut off 1/2" pieces. Bake in moderate oven, 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes. Lightly grease cookie sheet.
