SALLY LUNN BREAD OR ROLLS | |
1 c. milk 1/2 c. butter 4 c. sifted flour 4 tbsp. sugar 2 tsp. salt 2 pkgs. dry yeast 3 eggs 1/4 c. water Grease a tube or bundt cake pan, or 2 twelve muffin pans. Heat milk, butter, and water until very warm (120 degrees). Put sugar, salt, yeast, and 1 1/2 cups flour in a large mixing bowl. Add warm liquid to the dry, and mix at medium speed for two minutes. Add the eggs and another 1/2 cup flour and beat two more minutes. Add the remaining flour and mix. This mixture will be thick. Cover and let rise until double (about 1 1/4 hours). Beat dough down and turn into the pan or tins. Bake in cake pan 40 to 50 minutes in a 350 degree oven or 25 minutes in the muffin tins. When done, run a knife around the edge of the bread, and turn out to cool. |
