PENNSYLVANIA SHOO FLY CAKE | |
2 1/2 c. flour 3/4 c. sugar 1 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 c. shortening 1 c. hot water 1/2 c. molasses In mixing bowl, stir together flour, sugar, soda and salt. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles fine crumbs. Remove 1/3 cup of the crumbs. Stir together hot water and molasses. Add to crumb mixture in the bowl. Stir until blended. Turn batter into a greased 13x9 inch pan. Sprinkle reserved crumbs over batter. Bake in 350 degree oven for 25-30 minutes or until done. |
