CHOCOLATE OATMEAL COOKIE 
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt (optional)

Sift above ingredients together; set aside. Then add:

3/4 c. brown sugar
3/4 c. white sugar
1 c. shortening (or butter makes them best!)

Mix well and add:

2 beaten eggs
1 tsp. hot water
1 tsp. vanilla (or more)

Add flour mixture. Add:

1 pkg. chocolate chips
1 c. chopped nuts
2 c. Quaker oats (Old Fashioned)

Drop by spoonfuls on lightly sprayed cookie sheet. Bake in 375 degree oven until golden. Do not overbake for a softish cookie.
