MERINGUE SURPRISES 
2 egg whites
1 tsp. vanilla
1/8 tsp. salt
1/2 c. sugar
1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
Red or green food coloring (optional)

Combine egg whites, vanilla, and salt. Beat until stiff, not dry. Beat in sugar gradually until stiff and satiny. Add food coloring. Fold in chocolate chips. Drop by teaspoon on greased cookie sheet. Bake in 300 degree oven for 30 minutes. Makes 3 1/2 dozen.
