Fill a mixing bowl about half full of sifted flour. Make a depression in center, stir in 1 cup boiling water and 3/4 teaspoon salt, stirring quickly with a fork until dough is stiff enough to roll with a rolling pin. You will need to work it with your hands until it cools a little. Roll out and cut into inch squares.
Takes a can of sour cherries, one cup of water, one cup of sugar and one tablespoon of butter. Bring this to a boil in a two quart kettle. Drop dumplings in while boiling. Since the dumplings are already cooked they only need to simmer a few minutes. We love em!
Take 2 cups water, 1 cup mild vinegar, 1 cup sugar, 1 tablespoon butter and 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg and bring to a boil. Add Dumplings and simmer. Use a little less vinegar if too strong.
