ALMA'S MEXICAN CORNBREAD 
About 2 tbsp. bacon drippings
2 c. cornmeal
1 c. flour
1 c. cream style corn
1 c. buttermilk
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 eggs
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 c. chopped onions
Salt to taste
1/3 c. grated cheese
About 3 jalapeno peppers, chopped & seeded

Combine all ingredients except cheese and peppers to make a batter. Pour half of batter in pan. Sprinkle with cheese and chopped peppers. Put in the rest of the batter. Bake in a hot oven, 450 degrees, about 35 minutes.
