BUTTERED TOAST 
2 slices bread (white, rye, whole wheat)
Standard electric toaster, plugged into wall outlet

NOTE: Recipe may be doubled for a 4 slice toaster.

Place 1 slice of bread in each slot of toaster. Set color selector for desired degree of brownness, and depress gizmo that causes bread to descend into fiery depths of toaster. Wait patiently or, if you prefer, fidget for several seconds until slices pop up in new crisp, golden glory. Spread butter on each slice. If desired, top with jelly, preserves, and/or peanut butter. Toast may also be served under creamed chicken, creamed chipped beef or beef stew.
