MANDEL BREAD (JEWISH COOKIE) | |
1/4 lb. butter 1 c. sugar 1 pinch of salt 3 eggs 1 tsp. vanilla 3 c. flour 3 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. cinnamon or to taste 1/4 c. crushed almonds or to taste Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, mix butter, sugar and salt. Add and blend eggs and vanilla. In a small bowl sift flour, baking powder and cinnamon. Add to large bowl slowly. Add nuts. It should be a little sticky. Shape into 3 small or 2 medium loaves. Place on greased cookie sheet. Bake 25 to 30 minutes until lightly browned. Remove them. Cool for 10 minutes. Slice them, put back on cookie sheet. Bake at 300 degrees for about 10 minutes. Do not cover them until they are completely cooled or they will be too soft. |
