BAKED APPLE DUMPLINGS
CRUST:

2 c. flour
2/3 c. Crisco
1 tsp. salt
4 tbsp. ice water

Mix crust as you would for a pie crust, and divide into six equal portions. On a floured board, roll each ball of dough into a circle about 6 1/2 inches in diameter. In the center put 3/4 cup chopped apples, 1 1/2 tablespoons sugar, a dash of cinnamon and nutmeg. Pull the dough up around the apples to form a ball. Place in a 9x13 inch pan.

SYRUP:

1 c. sugar
3 tbsp. butter
2 c. water
1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Mix all ingredients of syrup together and bring to a boil. Continue to cook for 3 minutes. Pour hot syrup in between the dumplings and bake in a 425 degree oven for 10 minutes to lightly brown top. Finish baking 350 degrees for 40 minutes.
