STORYBOOK GINGERBREAD MEN 
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
3 1/4 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
Sun Maid currants or raisins
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ginger
1/8 tsp. cloves
3/4 c. molasses
1/4 c. water

FROSTING:

1 c. sifted confectioners' sugar
1 tsp. light corn syrup
2 1/2 tsp. warm water
1/4 tsp. vanilla

Cream shortening and sugar together. Resift flour with salt, soda and spices.

Blend into creamed mixture alternately with molasses and water. Chill about 1 hour. Roll 1/2 mixture at a time, 1/4 inch thick. Cut with floured cutter. Lift onto lightly greased baking sheets.

Bake above oven center in moderate oven (350 degrees) about 12 minutes until cookies spring back in center.

Make frosting: Stir together sugar, corn syrup, water and vanilla until smooth. Decorate with frosting and raisins. Bakes about 20 gingerbread men (4 inch tall).
