PINK CLOUDS AT SUNRISE 
6 egg whites
3/4 tsp. cream of tartar
2 c. granulated sugar
2 c. crushed soda crackers (about 45)
3/4 c. chopped nuts
2 tsp. vanilla

Beat egg whites until frothy. Add cream of tartar; gradually add granulated sugar. Beat until stiff. Fold in crushed crackers and add chopped nuts and vanilla.

Spread in well buttered 9 x 13 glass baking dish. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Cool on rack. Whip 2 cups whipping cream; spread over top. Spoon 1 can cherry pie filling over cream. Chill several hours or overnight before serving.
