1 c. peanut butter
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1/4 c. shortening
1/3 c. water
2 c. baking mix
About 4 dozen milk chocolate candy bars

Heat oven to 400 degrees. Mix peanut butter, sugars, shortening and water. Stir in baking mix. Shape dough by rounded teaspoonfuls into balls. Roll balls in sugar. Place about 2" apart on ungreased cookie sheet; do not flatten. Bake until edges are light brown, 8 to 10 minutes. Immediately press 1 milk chocolate candy star firmly in each cookie. Cool slightly; remove from cookie sheet. Cool cookies completely.

Yield: about 4 dozen cookies.

Peanut Butter Chip Cookies. Omit milk chocolate candy starts. Mix n 1 (6 oz.) package semi-sweet chocolate chips before stirring in baking mix. Shape dough by rounded teaspoonfuls into balls. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten cookies in criss cross pattern with fork dipped in flour. Bake until light brown, 8 to 10 minutes.
