MARASCHINO NUT CAKE 
2 1/4 c. sifted cake flour
1 1/3 c. sugar
3 tsp. double action baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. high grade shortening
1/4 c. cherry juice
16 cherries
1/2 c. milk
1/2-2/3 c. unbeaten egg whites
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Sift dry ingredients into bowl; add shortening, cherries, (cut into eighths), and milk. Mix 2 minutes slow to medium speed. Add egg whites; beat 2 minutes more. Fold in nut meats. Bake in 350 degree moderate oven for 30 to 35 minutes.
