FAT CHEWY PRETZELS 
1 pkg. dry yeast (or equivalent)
1/2 cup warm water
1 egg, separated
1/4 cup honey or sugar
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter
1 cup milk
1 tsp. salt
5 cups all-purpose flour
1 tbsp. water
coarse salt

Measure 1/2 cup warm water into bowl. Sprinkle yeast on the water and stir till dissolved. Separate egg yolk and white.

Mix egg yolk, honey (or sugar), butter and milk in to the yeast. Add salt and enough flour to make stiff and easy to handle dough. Knead the dough on floured surface for 5 minutes. Let rise for 1 hour.

Preheat oven to 425°F.

Cut dough into strips about 1-inch wide. Roll into ropes and shape into pretzels, fish, hearts and place on greased cookie sheet.

Beat 1 tablespoon water into egg white and brush it over the pretzels. Sprinkle with coarse salt.

Bake at 425°F until golden brown (about 15 to 20 minutes).
