1 c. butter, softened 1 1/2 c. sugar 1 egg 1 tsp. vanilla 2 1/2 c. flour 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt Line bottom and sides of 9x5x3 loaf pan with waxed paper. Cream butter in large mixing bowl; gradually add sugar, beating until light and fluffy. Add egg; beat well. Stir in vanilla. Combine flour, baking powder and salt. Add to creamed mixture. Divide dough into thirds. Add 1/2 teaspoon almond extract and 5 drops of red food coloring to 1 portion; spread mixture evenly in prepared pan. Add 1/2 cup chopped pecans to second portion; spread over dough in pan. Add 1 ounce unsweetened melted chocolate to third portion; spread over dough in pan and remove waxed paper. Cut dough in half lengthwise; cut each half crosswise into 1/8 inch slices. Place 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes. |
