GINGERBREAD CUTOUT COOKIES 
1 c. butter
1 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1 c. dark molasses
1 tbsp. vinegar
5 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves

Cream shortening and sugar. Add egg and beat light. Add molasses, vinegar and beat well.

Combine dry ingredients. Stir into butter mixture. Mix well. Chill until dough is easy to handle and firm enough to hold shape, about 2 hours.

To make cookies, roll dough out thin: 1/8 inch. Cut out with cookie cutter. Bake 8-10 minutes in a 350 degree oven. Watch cookies, they should only brown slightly around edges.
