8 c. water
2 tsp. salt (less, if desired)
1 c. chopped onion
1/4 c. rice
1 pkg. dry vegetable beef soup mix
1 pkg. frozen mixed vegetables
1 lb. ground beef
1 c. diced celery
1/2 c. diced carrots
1 diced potato
1 pkg. onion soup mix
1 1/2 c. tomato juice
1 or 2 beef bouillon cubes (opt.)

Make tiny meatballs with raw hamburger and place them in the 8 cups boiling water (use a large pan). Let them cook and skim off residue of cooked meat. Add the rest of the ingredients and let simmer until vegetables are tender.
