1/4 c. lukewarm water 1 cake (or pkg.) yeast Mix water and yeast together in blender until thoroughly mixed. 1 egg 1 1/2 c. non-fat dry milk (mixed with water to make 1 1/2 c.) 1/3 c. butter, melted 1/3 c. sugar 2 c. flour 1 tsp. salt 1 tbsp. cornmeal (3 additional cups flour will be added later) Blend all above ingredients in blender. Put dough in large bowl. Cover and let stand in warm place. Add additional 3 cups of flour. Knead into soft dough. Cover; let rise in warm place until double. Punch down and place (covered) in refrigerator until ready to use. (Will keep a few days.) Roll, cut and fry in hot oil. (Oil is not hot enough for frying when a piece of dough sinks to bottom and immediately rises.) |
