CHINESE SWEET N SOUR SPARERIBS | |
2 c. water 1 1/2 lb. spareribs, cut in 1 inch lengths 1/4 c. soy sauce 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. sugar 2 tbsp. sherry SAUCE: 3 tbsp. sugar 1 1/2 tbsp. vinegar 2 tbsp. cornstarch 1/2 c. water In a heavy pan, heat water, ribs, soy sauce, and salt; when mixture boils, turn down heat and simmer for 1 hour. Add sugar and sherry. Turn heat high and continue to cook until the liquid is all evaporated. Blend sauce ingredients, pour slowly over ribs. Cook for about 2 minutes. Place ribs on a flat dish and top with sauce. Makes 3 or 4 servings. |
