CHOCOLATE TOPPED TOFFEE COOKIES
2/3 c. butter, melted
4 c. rolled oats
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. dark corn syrup or honey
1 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. vanilla
1 (7 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
1/2 c. finely chopped nuts

Pour melted butter over rolled oats and mix thoroughly. Add brown sugar, corn syrup, salt and vanilla. Mix, then pack firmly into two well greased 8 inch square pans or one 10 x 14 inch pan. Bake in hot oven at 450 degrees for about 12 minutes or until rich brown in color and still bubbling. Cool 4 or 5 minutes. Then sprinkle with chocolate chips. The chocolate will melt in about 10 minutes and it can be spread over cookie and sprinkled with nuts. Cool until chocolate is firm. Remove cookies by tapping bottom of pan and inverting. Cut into squares with sharp knife.
