GRANDMA BATCHER'S ROLLS 
2 c. warm water
1/2 c. sugar
2 pkgs. yeast
1 beaten egg
4 tbsp. shortening
6-7 c. flour
2 tsp. salt
Butter (optional)

Add 1/2 cup sugar to 2 cups warm water; let dissolve. Add 2 packages yeast; stir. Add 1 beaten egg, 4 tablespoons shortening, 2 teaspoon salt. Mix. Start adding the 6 to 7 cups flour until dough is formed.

Divide into 3 balls, put in greased pan; grease top of balls very well. Let rise until double in warm place (1 hour?). Grease muffin pans and place 2 small balls side by side in each muffin hole. Let rise a little. Bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes. Top with butter.
