HOMEMADE VEGETABLE SOUP 
1/2 c. onion, chopped
1/2 head cabbage, chopped
1 1/2 c. fresh or frozen corn
1 1/2 c. okra, diced
4 med. potatoes, peeled, cut into pieces
1 1/2 c. fresh or frozen green beans
1 c. peas, fresh or frozen
1/2 c. celery, chopped
Hot pepper, to taste, optional
8 fresh tomatoes or 2 cans tomatoes
1 tsp. salt
1 c. carrots, sliced

Mix all ingredients together in large pot, add enough water or broth to cook vegetables in. Bring to slight boil; reduce heat; cover. Simmer for 4 to 6 hours or until vegetables are done. Good cooked with a piece of ham or other pork.
