1 c. brown sugar
2 c. oatmeal
2 eggs
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda

Mix shortening and sugar until creamy. Add eggs and then dry ingredients. Sprinkle board with flour and roll cookies, using flour to coat top until workable, to about 1/4 inch or a little less. Bake on greased cookie sheets for about 10 minutes at 350 degrees. When cool, put together with the following filling.

FILLING: Boil 1 pound dates with 1 cup sugar and a little water until it forms a paste. Cool and use for filling.
