BOILED RAISIN CAKE 
1 lb. raisins
1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 c. liquid from raisins
2 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. nutmeg
2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. chopped nuts

Rinse the raisins and cover with water and cook for 20 minutes. Drain and save 1 cup of the liquid.

Cream shortening with the sugar, then add the well beaten eggs. Sift together the flour, soda, nutmeg, cinnamon and salt. Add the dry ingredients alternately with the raisin water. Lastly, fold in the floured raisins and nuts.
