ZITI CASSEROLE
1 lb. ziti
1 med. onion, chopped
1 med. green pepper, chopped
1 lb. ground beef or ground turkey
1 (28 to 32 oz.) jar meatless spaghetti sauce
2 (6 oz.) cans tomato paste
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/2 tsp. chili powder

Cook ziti according to package directions. Drain. In a skillet, add onion, green pepper and ground meat. Cook until meat is browned. Drain excess fat. Add spaghetti sauce, tomato paste and seasonings. Simmer 15 minutes. In a 13x9 inch pan or larger casserole dish, pour some meat sauce on the bottom. Layer ziti and sauce until it is all mixed together. Bake in 350 degree oven for 15 minutes or until slightly browned. Let stand about 5 minutes before serving. About 6 to 8 servings.

This is a great dish to take to a potluck supper or make ahead of time to just pop in the oven to heat when company comes. When I make it ahead of time, I just assemble the casserole and refrigerate. I bake it right before serving for about 25 to 30 minutes.
