HUSH PUPPIES 
2 c. white cornmeal
2 tsp. baking powder
1 egg
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. milk or slightly more to make a workable batter
1 med. onion, chopped

Sift dry ingredients together. Add milk and egg. Stir in onion. Mold pieces of dough into cakes 2 inches wide and 3 inches long and 3/4 inches thick. Fry in deep hot fat in skillet immediately after frying fish. Fry until well browned. Serve with butter and fish.
