FRENCH FANCIES 
1/2 cup butter
3/4 cup sifted powdered sugar
2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 cups flour
1/4 tsp. salt
maraschino cherries (drained)

Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Blend in vanilla. Add flour and salt to creamed mixture alternately with milk beating well after each addition. For each cookie, shape dough around a cherry to form a ball. Place on ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake 350°F 12 - 15 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Dip cookie tops in glaze.

Makes 2 dozen.

Glaze:

1 1/2 cups sifted powdered sugar
2 tbsp. milk
red food coloring

Combine sugar and milk. Mix well. Tint with food coloring until pink.
