GRANDMA CAREY'S FLOUR ICING 
5 tbsp. flour
1 c. milk
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. confectioners' sugar
1 tsp. vanilla

Cook flour and milk over medium heat until becomes paste - stirring constantly. Set aside to cool. Cream sugar, butter and shortening. When flour and milk have cooled, beat that mixture until creamy and add sugar, butter and shortening mixture - beat until all is creamy. This icing is especially good on chocolate cake and carrot cake.
