CRACKLE TOPS 
4 c. flour
2 tbsp. cocoa
2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
3/4 c. butter, room temperature
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. light molasses
1/4 tsp. salt

Mix flour, cocoa, baking soda, spices, and salt. Beat butter and 1 cup sugar until fluffy. Beat in molasses. Gradually add flour mixture and beat until blended. Divide dough in half. Pat each half into flattened 1 inch thick round. Wrap and chill 1 hour or until dough is firm enough to shape. Heat oven to 375 degrees. Lightly grease cookie sheet. Form tablespoons of dough into 1 inch balls. Roll in remaining sugar. Place 1 inch apart on cookie sheet. Bake 10 minutes or until evenly browned. Cool 1 minute before removing to rack. Store tightly covered.
