FRENCH APPLE COBBLER | |
5 c. peeled, sliced apples 3/4 c. sugar 2 tbsp. flour 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 1/4 tsp. salt 1 tsp. vanilla 1 tbsp. butter BATTER: 1/2 c. flour 1/2 c. sugar 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. salt 2 tbsp. soft butter 1 egg, slightly beaten 1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. 2. Make filling: Medium bowl combine apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, salt, vanilla and 1/4 cup water. 3. Turn into 9 x 9 x 1 3/4 inch baking pan. Dot with butter. 4. Make batter: medium bowl combine all batter ingredients; beat with wooden spoon until smooth. 5. Drop batter in 9 portions on apples, spacing evenly. Batter will spread during baking. 6. Bake 35 to 40 minutes. 7. Serve warm or cold - whip cream or ice cream for topping optional. |
