DOUGHNUTS 
3 sm. eggs
1 c. sugar
2 tbsp. shortening
3/4 c. thick buttermilk or sour cream
3 3/4 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Beat thoroughly eggs, sugar and shortening. Stir in buttermilk or sour cream. Sift together dry ingredients, add to and turn onto lightly floured board. Knead 5 or 6 times. Roll out 1/3 inch thick. Let rise 20 minutes. Cut with doughnut cutter. Fry in hot fat until brown.
