1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. peanut butter
1 1/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. baking soda

Mix first four ingredients, then add peanut butter. Mix in remaining ingredients. Chill dough. Form into balls, dip into sugar and place on cookie sheet. Use fork to flatten.

Bake at 350°F until golden brown. Approx. 8-10 minutes.
