5 egg whites
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla

1 1/2 c. sugar

Place in 11x7-inch glass baking dish. Put in 450 degree oven. Turn oven off. DO NOT OPEN oven for 8 hours. After 8 hours, or more, remove from oven. Top with 1/2 pint cream, whipped. Chill.

When ready to serve, top each serving with crushed fruit - strawberries, raspberries, peaches, etc. Serves 8-10. Preparation is simplified if baking part is done just before bedtime.
