SOFT GINGER COOKIES 
1 c. sugar
1 c. butter
1 egg
1/4 c. molasses
2 1/4 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. ground ginger
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
3/4 tsp. ground cloves

Cream sugar and butter. add egg and beat well. Add molasses. Sift together all dry ingredients and add last, mixing well. Chill dough slightly. Form into balls and roll each ball in additional sugar. Bake at 350 degrees for about 12 minutes.
