GINGERBREAD COOKIES 
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. dark molasses
1 c. butter
1 tsp. baking soda dissolved in 1/3 c. water
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. salt
4 c. flour

Bring sugar, molasses, and butter to a boil in a large saucepan. Remove from heat. Add baking soda mixture, cinnamon, ginger, salt, and flour and work ingredients until well blended. Chill dough for 8 hours or overnight.

Roll out dough to 1/8 inch thickness on a floured board. Cut with gingerman cutter. Bake on a lightly greased sheet at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes or until crisp and golden. Makes 4 dozen.
