PUMPKIN BREAD 
2 2/3 c. sugar
2/3 c. Crisco
4 eggs, beaten
1/2 c. water
1 (16 oz.) can pumpkin
3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
2/3 c. walnuts

Combine sugar and Crisco; add eggs, water and pumpkin. Sift dry ingredients and combine with first mixture. Add nuts. Bake at 350 degrees about 1 hour in a small 8 1/2 x 4 1/2-inch loaf pan that has been greased and floured. Check with cake tester to make sure center is cooked. If outsides seem to be cooked and center is not, make a tent with aluminum foil over top of cake until center is cooked.
