GREEN BEANS SOUTHERN STYLE 
Enough freshly picked and snapped green beans to 1/2 fill a top of the stove roasting pot
1 lg. onion, sliced and separated into rings
Bacon drippings
Crisply cooked bacon, crumbled

Place fresh beans in roasting pot on top of stove. Add onion and just enough water to cover the beans. Bring pot contents to a boil, reduce heat to slow simmer. Add enough bacon drippings to the beans so that you can smell the bacon fragrance. (Sorry I never measure it.)

Slowly simmer pot contents until beans are fully cooked. At serving time sprinkle crumbled bacon on the top of beans that have been removed from pot with slotted spoon.
