APPLE DUMPLINGS 
6 pared cored golden or red apples
1 c. sugar
2 c. water
3 tbsp. butter
1 3/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. sugar
1 tbsp. butter
heavy cream
pastry for 2 crust pie

Roll out pastry to 1/8-inch thickness on a floured surface. Cut pastry into 6 square sections. Place an apple in center of each section. Combine 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon. Fill apple cavities with cinnamon mixture. Dot with 1 tablespoon butter. Fold pastry over each apple. Place in a baking dish. In a pot, combine 1 cup sugar, water and 3 tablespoons butter. Boil for 3 minutes. Pour hot syrup around dumplings.

Bake at 425°F for 40 to 45 minutes, until browned. Serve with cream or ice cream.
