HOMEMADE VEGETABLE SOUP 
2 lbs. fresh carrots
1 lg. head of cabbage
5 med. sized potatoes
1 can peas
1 can green beans
1 can corn
2 lbs. hamburger
3 sm. cans tomato paste
2 packets onion soup mix
Onions
1 med. turnip
1 tsp. garlic salt
Salt and pepper to taste

In a very large saucepan, fry hamburger, covered mostly with water. When done, add tomato paste, onion soup mix, and spices. After meat is done, add remaining items until everything is added. Add water to desired thickness and cook slowly for about 1 hour until done. Then turn done to a simmer and cook about a half hour longer. Makes about 19-20 quarts and freezes well. Can also be canned.
